Zoran Milanovic, born October 30, 1966, in Zagreb, has served as President of Croatia since February 19, 2020, and was re-elected to a second five-year term in January 2025 with more than 74 percent of the vote in the runoff. He previously served as Prime Minister of Croatia from 2011 to 2016 and led the Social Democratic Party of Croatia from 2007 to 2016 before running for the presidency as an independent, making him the only Croatian to have held both the presidency and the premiership since independence. He holds a law degree from the University of Zagreb, studied at the Free University of Brussels, and worked in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs earlier in his career.
