Ukraine is a semi-presidential republic with a multi-party system in Eastern Europe, its capital Kyiv. The President serves as head of state and the Prime Minister as head of government, and the Verkhovna Rada is the country's unicameral parliament. Ukraine is governed under the constitution adopted on 28 June 1996.
